The Triumph Thunderbird is Triumph motorcycle made in Hinckley, England, and sold since June 2009. The name “Thunderbird” is revived from a previous Triumph three-cylinder 885 cc bike. The name was previously applied to a single carburettor version of the 650cc twin Bonneville produced in the mid-1960s for police work. The last iteration was the Thunderbird Sport last made in 2004′
The bike based on the original Thunderbird gets less chrome but a lot of attitude. This is the cheapest cruiser from the Triumph stable and its looks can bring you to your knees. Twin headlights, blacked out looks make it the mean machine you want to own. It comes equipped with a 1700cc parallel-twin engine which puts out 97bhp. The Thunderbird Storm comes with ABS, tank mounted speedo, electronic self-cancelling indicators and a lot many features as standard equipment. The bike is available in jet black, matte black and matte graphite colours.
Style, performance and control. It’s a classy combination, but it only takes one look at the Triumph Thunderbird Range to instantly know they’ve got the lot. From making big miles disappear to dominating the urban landscape; whichever you choose, the world’s largest parallel twin engine has every answer.
Triumph Motorcycles is known for creating some of the sweetest cruisers on the planet which look conventional and yet, feel modern to ride. One such cruiser in their line-up that’s available in India is the Thunderbird Storm, which at a price tag of Rs 14.1 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) gives the rider some serious bragging rights like owning the largest motorcycle parallel-twin production engine in the world.
The first thing that you will notice is the twin-headlamps at the front, which will remind you of Triumph’s Rocket-III, which has the largest production engine on a motorcycle in the world. The next thing that will catch your eye is the minimal use of chrome on the bike. Most of the chrome is on the exhaust pipes and the front handlebar, other than that, the bike sports an all-black look, which gives it a muscular stance. The rear section of the bike carries forward the minimal design approach and looks clean, tidy and the wide tyre completes the look.
